Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) Worker
Purpose: Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the ARMHS Worker provides direct services to adult clients with severe mental illness. This position will focus primarily on helping clients develop basic living and social skills and assisting with advocacy through community intervention within an individual and/or group basis. This includes helping the client to develop a realistic vision of improved functioning as well as the skills to manage their illness in order to minimize its impact. The person will have assigned clients; with each client, the ARMHS Worker will be given direction on the skills and goals using the Functional Assessment Packet and Individual Treatment Plan that identifies skills the clients need or wishes to increase and will work with the clients on these goals. The job is performed in the clinic and in the community in a variety of situations, both in the recipient’s home and in community programs in all geographical areas of the community, including both high- and low-crime areas.

- Assess client skills, knowledge and needs, and contribute to the development of the overall treatment of the client using the diagnostic assessment and other available records. Responsible for documentation and developing the following by connecting with each client at minimum once per week:
- Develop and Complete Functional Assessment and LOCUS at intake and Individual Treatment plan within 30 days of Functional Assessment; Update Functional Assessment/Individual Treatment Plan at a maximum of 180 days or as needed based on client’s status and changes in functioning
- Complete other mandatory state and agency documentation on timely basis
- Act as advocate and work with the people significant to the client in support of their recovery.
- Complete Authorization of Release with individuals, providers, friends/family relevant to client recovery, communicate and collaborate with these connections
- Include relevant individuals in client meetings as client is comfortable
- Complete all required written documentation;
- Charts each ARMHS meeting according to Goal, Intervention, Response, Plan, and Substantial Observation
- Document data required according to federal requirements for billing purposes and submit on required time lines (within 48 hours of meeting completion),
- Progress notes reflect accuracy and consistency with actual recipient contact relevant to individual treatment plans and goals.
- Receive and participate in clinical supervision from a Mental Health Professional at least monthly, but most often weekly individually or in small groups to discuss:
- Treatment topics of interest
- Treatment plans of recipients and approve by signature and document in recipient’s file any plan updates
- Request consultation by telephone or in person as needed for the purpose of service provision to recipients.
- Participate in staff meetings, all required WebMed Mental Health training, and meetings with clinical supervisors; Monitor own schedule to assure that all required trainings are completed each year
- Demonstrate positive and supportive interactions with other program staff, in an effort to build a cohesive team approach
- Actively participate in individual and group supervision led by the clinical supervisor.
- Follow all Agency, state regulatory, program policies and procedures;
- Conduct duties in an unbiased manner in accordance with the agency’s mission statement and guiding principles by which all clients, volunteers and staff are treated equally regardless of race, gender, religion, age, physical and mental abilities and/or sexual orientation.
- Respond to in-office crisis and emergency situations
- Perform other related duties as requested by the Clinical Supervisor of Community Support Programming
- Perform non-routine duties related to the overall functioning of the services.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Use an effective communication model in working relationships with each other, clients, and the community.
- Demonstrate good listening skills and ability to positively accept feedback from supervisors and co-workers. Incorporate feedback and demonstrate appropriate self-care methods on the job. WebMed Mental Health is opposed to violence and offensive behavior in the workplace. Clients participating in this program, however, may experience anxiety, mental illness, physical illness, frustration and helplessness in their daily lives which occasionally results in inappropriate verbal and physical expressions of anger, threats or violence towards employees. Training is available to staff on verbal crisis intervention and prevention. Employees are expected to be able to serve angry and disgruntled clients with patience and courtesy.
- Language Skills: Ability to write reports, log entries, and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from medical professionals, management, staff and clients. Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb stairs, bend, kneel, or crouch, use hands to write, use computers, and perform verbal crisis prevention/intervention techniques. An employee in this position may need to lift at least twenty-five pounds. Successful performance requires vision, ability to complete logs and charts, and ability to drive a car with a valid driver’s license

Minimum Qualifications:
Must meet DHS qualifications for Mental Health Practitioner in one of the following ways:
- Has completed at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields and has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to adults or children with:
- Mental illness, substance use disorder, or emotional disturbance, or
- Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects
- Has at least 4,000 hours of supervised work experience in the delivery of services to adults or children with any of the following:
- Mental illness, substance use disorder, or emotional disturbance, or
- Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects
- Has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to adults or children with any of the following:
- Mental illness, substance use disorder, or emotional disturbance, or
- Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; and receives clinical supervision as required at least once a week from a mental health professional until the requirement of 4,000 hours of supervised experience is met.
- Has a graduate student internship or a bachelor’s or master’s degree and is a graduate student in behavioral sciences or related fields and is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical training
- Has a bachelor’s or master’s degree with any of the following:
- Holds a master’s or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related fields and completes a practicum or internship that (1) requires direct interaction with adults or children served, and (2) is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.
Mental Health Practitioners Who Are Qualified as Clinical Trainees
A mental health practitioner working as a clinical trainee must:
- 1. Be complying with requirements for licensure or board certification as a mental health professional including supervised practice in the delivery of mental health services for the treatment of mental illness; OR
- 2. Be a student in a bona fide field placement or internship under a program leading to completion of the requirements for licensure as a mental health professional.
- The clinical trainee’s clinical supervision experience helps the practitioner gain knowledge and skills necessary to practice effectively and independently and may include supervision of:
- Direct practice
- Treatment team collaboration
- Continued professional learning
- Job management
Other Qualifications:
- Ability to successfully pass a background check process

Purpose: Counsel and educate clients to assist them in the development of healthy coping skills to effectively manage their chemical health to become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive.
Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: SUD Treatment Director
Essential duties and responsibilities: Responsible to ensure and/or deliver and properly document the provision of treatment services including the Initial Service Plan, Comprehensive Assessment, Individual Treatment Plan, Progress Notes, Summary at Termination of Services, and the maintenance of client records in accordance with Minnesota 245G.01 subdivision 4 and 148F.01
Treatment Services
- Upon service initiation, ensure that each client has an initial service plan which addresses the client’s immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs.
- Complete a comprehensive assessment/diagnostic assessment and an assessment summary of the client’s substance use disorder/s and mental health disorder/s if licensed to do so within three calendar days after service initiation.
- Provide an Individual Treatment Plan after completion of the comprehensive assessment which is subject to amendment until services to the client are terminated. The individual treatment plan must include treatment goals, specific methods to be used to address identified problems, resources to which the client is being referred, and client goals.
- Enter progress notes in each client’s file weekly or after each treatment service. The progress notes must reference the individual treatment plan.
- Complete a discharge/termination summary within five days of the client’s termination of services.
- Ensure the content and format of client records are uniform and entries in each case are signed and dated.
- Provide individual and group counseling, client education strategies to avoid substance chemical use and health problems related to substance use, transition services, and services to address issues related to co occurring mental illness.
- Lead client education groups as required.
- Participate in the weekly treatment clinical team meetings to review and update client progress notes.
- Participate in weekly IDS clinic site meetings for case consultation/treatment coordination, and to stay up to date with clinic and company happenings
- Participate in weekly SUD staffing
- Offer walk in comprehensive assessments a minimum of one day a week or otherwise assigned by supervisor/treatment director
- Assure treatment coordination is completed and followed up on within 5 business days and documented in accordance with 245G requirements
- Complete urinalysis testing per client case requirements and follow up with external lab agencies as deemed necessary and document to client chart accordingly
- Participate in external outing activities with clients as assigned by clinical supervisor/treatment director
- Actively participate in WebMed community events to promote and educate community on services
- Assist with cleanliness of work space and group room including meal clean up and item stocking as necessary
- Follow up on scheduling intakes and referrals to SUD services for care coordination within 5 business days of initial request
- Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with client referral, probation, social service agencies, etc.
Continuing Education and Training
- Stay current regarding professional research, techniques, etc.
- Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain Alcohol and Drug Counselor license.
- Attend in-house training and staff meetings.
Other
- Other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 18 years of age.
- Must be free of chemical use problems for at least the two years immediately preceding hire.
- Must have or obtain 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems training within six months of hire.
- Ability to provide individual and group counseling including crisis intervention.
- An alcohol and drug counselor must either be licensed or exempt from licensure under chapter 148F.
- An individual who is exempt from licensure under chapter 148F, must meet one of the
following additional requirements:- completion of at least a baccalaureate degree with a major or concentration in social work, nursing, sociology, human services, or psychology, or licensure as a registered nurse; successful completion of a minimum of 120 hours of classroom instruction in which each of the core functions listed in chapter 148F is covered; and successful completion of 440 hours of supervised experience as an alcohol and drug counselor, either as a student or a staff member;
- completion of at least 270 hours of drug counselor training in which each of the core functions listed in chapter 148F is covered, and successful completion of 880 hours of supervised experience as an alcohol and drug counselor, either as a student or as a staff member;
- current certification as an alcohol and drug counselor or alcohol and drug counselor reciprocal, through the evaluation process established by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse, Inc.;
- completion of a bachelor’s degree including 480 hours of alcohol and drug
counseling education from an accredited school or educational program and 880 hours of alcohol and drug counseling practicum; or - employment in a program formerly licensed under Minnesota Rules, parts 9530.5000 to 9530.6400, and successful completion of 6,000 hours of supervised work experience in a licensed program as an alcohol and drug counselor prior to January 1, 2005.
- An alcohol and drug counselor may not provide a treatment service that requires professional licensure unless the individual possesses the necessary license. For the purposes of enforcing this section, the commissioner has the authority to monitor a service provider’s compliance with the relevant standards of the service provider’s profession and may issue licensing actions against the license holder according to sections 245A.05, 245A.06, and 245A.07, based on the commissioner’s determination of noncompliance.
- Ability to successfully complete MN Dept of Human Services background study prior to hire.
- Must have a minimum of 12 hours of training in co-occurring disorders that includes
competencies related to philosophy, trauma-informed care, screening, assessment, diagnosis and person-centered treatment planning, documentation, programming, medication, collaboration, mental health consultation, and discharge planning. May grant credit for relevant training obtained before employment, with documentation to be filed in personnel file.

Purpose: Provide therapeutic interventions to clients who are diagnosed with mental health disorders. This service will be provided through psychotherapy and psycho-education in an effort to assist clients in becoming mentally stable, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive.
Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Director of Therapy
Essential duties and responsibilities: The Mental Health Therapist is responsible to ensure and/or deliver proper documentation in the provision of treatment services including: Diagnostic Assessment, Individual Psychotherapy, Treatment Plans, completing weekly Progress Notes, and the maintenance of client records in accordance with Minnesota DHS and WebMed policy.
Treatment Services
- Complete Diagnostic Assessments and provide diagnosis according to the DSM V diagnostic criteria.
- Upon initiation of services, ensure that each client has a treatment plan that addresses the client’s diagnosis, immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs.
- Oversee the Treatment Plan which is subject to amendment until services to the client are terminated. The Treatment Plan must include treatment goals, specific methods to be used to address identified problems, resources to which the client is being referred, and client goals. • Enter progress notes in each client’s file weekly or after each treatment service. The progress notes must reference the individual treatment plan.
- Ensure the content and format of client records are uniform and entries in each case are signed and dated.
- Participate in the weekly treatment team clinical meetings to review and update client progress
- Ensure appropriate coordination of care for patients and collaboration with other professionals
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Continuing Education and Training
- Stay current regarding professional research, techniques, etc.
- Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain Professional Licensure as a Mental Health Therapist

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited university
- Two years’ experience with high-risk adult populations preferred
- Licensed as a Mental Health Professional as per Minnesota State Statute 245I.04.2:
- A Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW),
- Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT),
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC),
- or Licensed Psychologist (LP)
- If unlicensed, must meet the requirements to be classified as a Clinical Trainee as per Minnesota State Statute 245I.04.06
- have completed a master’s or doctorate educational program in behavioral health, and are in the process of pursuing LPCC, LMFT, LICSW, or LP licensure in Minnesota.
- Excellent individual counseling and documentation skills.
- Ability to relate to people with substance abuse, mental illness and other life-controlling problems
- Ability to keep on task and meet weekly minimum caseload requirements.

Classification: Educational Student Intern
Reports to: LADC Clinical Supervisor
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Screening: The student intern will learn the process by which a client is determined appropriate for admission to WebMed’s Outpatient Treatment Program.

- Intake: The student intern will engage in administrative and initial assessment procedures for admission to the outpatient program. This process will include: intake paperwork, DAANES completion, Consent to Treat, Releases of Information, Vulnerable Adult, Comprehensive Assessments, Initial Service Plan, etc.
- Orientation: The student intern will learn how to describe to the client the general nature and goals of the outpatient program, i.e. Sessions with counselors, orientation sessions; curriculum, policies and procedures etc.
- Assessment: The student intern will gather relevant information that determines level of problems, strengths, need for treatment planning, and review of Rule 25 Assessment, review of Diagnostic Assessment and reviewing all other chart documentation to provide an initial assessment of the client.
- Client Education: The student intern will provide educational information to individuals and psychotherapy groups concerning mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse. Student interns will teach and promote healthy coping skills to manage both the clients mental and chemical health related issues/concerns to prevent relapse and increase stability in client’s recovery.
- Community Referrals: The student intern will identify the needs of the client that cannot be met by the counselor or agency and assist the client to access services, i.e. identifying needs and scheduling for psychotherapist, psychologists, outside mental health workers, and legal, etc.
- Community Education/Marketing: The student intern will participate in community health fairs, public speaking events, and events that promote WebMed’s outpatient treatment program. Student interns will be allowed to assist with marketing and community outreach.
- Counsel: The student intern will assist clients through individual counsel and psycho educational groups in exploring problems/solutions, i.e. observing, co-facilitating and facilitating.
- Treatment Planning: The student intern will gain an understanding through treatment planning by which the client and counselor/Mental Health Professional identify and rank problems; establish goals, and objectives and interventions to assist them to meet their treatment needs. I.e. initial development and ongoing work with clients in 1-1 sessions and psychotherapy groups.
- Discharge Planning: The student intern will gain insight on how to therapeutically close a client’s file and discharge a client from the therapeutic relationship and treatment environment.
- Professional & Ethical Responsibilities: The student intern will be allowed to practice in an environment that upholds all ethical and professional standards.

- Reports and Record Keeping: The student intern will learn documentation skills through the standardized progress note. The student intern will learn how to develop and maintain clear documentation in their assessments, treatment planning, written reports, progress notes, and other client related data, i.e. filing; charting; weekly treatment planning.
- Consultation: The student intern will gain insight in relating with other professionals to assure comprehensive quality care for clients, i.e. psychologists, outside mental health providers, educational areas and legal issues.
- Case Management: The student intern will orchestrate activities which bring services, agencies, and resources together. The student intern will participate in Team review meetings; meeting with WebMed’s outpatient physicians, Mental Health Professionals, probation, mental health workers and Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Workers.

- Comprehensive Assessment: The student intern will learn how to complete a Comprehensive Assessment for treatment services. Through this process, the student intern will learn the requirements for 245G, chemical health and required standards for dimension work.
- Crisis Intervention: The student intern will learn how to respond to client needs during an acute emotional or physical distress, i.e. 1-1 counseling sessions, psychotherapy group, psycho educational sessions.
- Diagnostic Assessment: The student intern (Master’s level) will complete Diagnostic Assessments on individuals who have been assessed using a standardized co-occurring screening tool to identify any emotional, behavioral or cognitive deficits and to assess the clients function in significant life areas, such as support systems, relationships, impulsivity healthy coping skills and other severe emotional or behavioral symptoms that would place the client or others at acute risk. In addition, the assessment will include obtaining a history of psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment/or psychiatric medications. Student interns will use the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-V) for diagnosing clients who may present with a mental health disorder.
- Psychotherapy: The student intern (Master’s level) will meet with clients who present with mental health diagnosis to provide psychotherapy one time per week. Student interns will carry a small caseload of clients.
- Group Therapy: The student intern will observe and/or co-facilitate psycho educational classes and psychotherapy groups to gain knowledge of the group process.
- Psycho-education: The student intern will provide treatment services to outpatient clients who present for chemical and mental health services at WebMed’s outpatient program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Graduate level student in social work or one of the behavioral sciences or a student enrolled in chemical dependency studies from an accredited college.
- Internship agreement between college internship agreement between the school and the program.
- The graduate student must be formally assigned by an accredited college to WebMed for clinical training and must be under weekly supervision of a Mental Health Professional and kept in the employee/intern file.
- Exhibit strong commitment to the client’s needs and the mission statement of WebMed.
- Ability to successfully complete the required background check process.
